Abstract
Global sanctions and export controls have intensified in recent years, particularly after 2022, requiring organizations to screen every commercial transaction against dynamic regulatory frameworks such as those issued by the United Nations (UN) and the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
In the absence of preventive controls, sales teams frequently risk generating quotes in restricted geographies or for sanctioned entities, creating exposure to significant legal, financial, and reputational liabilities. This research investigates the integration of real-time compliance enforcement into Salesforce Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ) systems via live regulatory feeds.
Using a case study approach, a compliance-aware policy engine was designed and deployed within Salesforce CPQ, enabling automated screening of customer, geography, and product attributes against UN and OFAC sanction lists. Quantitative analysis was performed using audit logs and quote rejection metrics, while qualitative feedback was gathered from sales managers and compliance analysts.
The results demonstrate that the proposed system eliminated all observed compliance violations, reduced manual review dependency by 85%, and enhanced user confidence in quoting accuracy.
The findings underscore the practical importance of integrating compliance logic directly into the quoting workflow, thereby moving regulatory enforcement upstream rather than relying on post-transaction audits. Limitations include the study’s focus on Salesforce only and a relatively small user base.
Future research should explore cross-platform compliance enforcement and AI-based escalation mechanisms.
