Abstract

The study aimed to identify the role of strategic leadership in reducing levels of employee turnover, to assess the extent of strategic leadership implementation and turnover levels at the Armed Forces Hospital in the Northern Region, and to explore statistically significant differences in respondents’ answers attributable to variables such as gender, educational qualification, years of service, and job cadre.

To achieve these objectives, the study employed the descriptive method and relied on a questionnaire administered to a simple random sample of 306 employees across different job levels.

After statistical analysis of the data, the study found that the level of strategic leadership implementation was high, with an overall mean score of 3.86. The third dimension, organizational control, ranked first with a mean of 3.98, followed by the fourth dimension, organizational culture, with a mean of 3.88.

The first dimension, strategic orientation, came third with a mean of 3.87, and the second dimension, human capital development, ranked fourth with a mean of 3.71.

The level of employee turnover was found to be moderate, with an overall mean of 2.77. The study also revealed a role for strategic leadership in reducing employee turnover, with an overall mean of 3.70.

There were no statistically significant differences in the role of strategic leadership in reducing turnover levels at the Armed Forces Hospital in the Northern Region attributable to gender, educational qualification, or years of experience.

However, there were statistically significant differences attributable to job position. Considering these findings, the study recommends providing continuous training and development programs to help employees enhance their skills and achieve their professional aspirations within the hospital, thereby increasing their job stability and strengthening their sense of belonging to the institution.
